• South Africa is in a strong position at 156/2 at lunch on Day 1, with Stubbs (32*) and Bavuma (36*) steadying the ship after Kuldeep Yadav's early breakthrough.
• Kuldeep Yadav removed Ryan Rickelton, but South Africa's batters have been getting starts, putting them in a good position to build a solid total.
• The pitch has offered true bounce with little assistance for bowlers, making it favourable for batting.
• Stubbs and Bavuma have been cautious before capitalizing on loose balls to keep the scoreboard ticking.

• - Mohammed Siraj's left knee is being attended to by the team physio after a collision with Stubbs, who barged into him while running for a single. 
• Stubbs seems okay, but Siraj is in trouble and is receiving medical attention on the field.
• The incident happened when Stubbs pushed a ball towards mid-on and ran for a single, accidentally colliding with Siraj.
• Siraj is currently on the floor, and it's hoped that he recovers quickly, but if needed, it's best for him to get treated and come back strong.
• And he recovers and continues to bowl

• - It's Tea time on Day 1 of the Test match in Guwahati, with South Africa at 82/1 after 26.5 overs, and Jasprit Bumrah has just taken the wicket of Markram.
• Bumrah's exceptional bowling has been the highlight of the session, and he deservedly gets the wicket after KL Rahul dropped Aiden Markram's catch earlier.
• The openers, Markram and Rickelton, had a solid start, negating the threat of the new ball and Bumrah's swinging spells, before Bumrah broke the partnership just before tea.
• The decision to bat first has paid off for South Africa, and they'll be happy with their progress, despite the dropped catch.
• The spin bowling, led by Sundar and Kuldeep, has brought some turn and bounce, off the red soil pitches, and will be a key factor in the match.

Jasprit Bumrah, you beauty!

On the last ball before Tea, Jasprit Bumrah gives India a much-wanted wicket. Aiden Markram and Ryan Rickelton were putting on a terrific show, putting up 82 runs before Pant brought in Bumrah for the final over. And he thrills the Guwahati crowd with a superb bowl to Markram. 

• - The first hour of play has been probing, with South Africa's openers holding their ground, and it's time for drinks!
• The pleasing aspect for South Africa is that their openers, Markram and Rickelton, have come out of the first hour without any major issues, despite Jasprit Bumrah's excellent spell.
• Bumrah's efforts (7 overs, 0/6) were unfortunately let down by a dropped catch from KL Rahul off Markram, which could have changed the game. -
• Rickelton, who looked a bit edgy earlier, will be feeling more confident after surviving that last ball, and the conditions are expected to ease a bit now that the initial spells are done. -  
• Nitish Kumar Reddy comes to bowl as no signs of spin yet. Maybe, we see Kuldeep Yadav from next over. 

Jasprit Bumrah looks heartbroken as KL Rahul spills a simple catch 

• Bumrah's brilliant bowling effort was let down by a dropped catch from KL Rahul at second slip, a huge opportunity to dismiss Aiden Markram.
• The ball was a straightforward catch, but Rahul spilled it, much to Bumrah's dismay, who covered his face with his hands in frustration.
• Markram was on 4 when he edged the ball, and this drop gives South Africa a lifeline, with Markram going on to score a century.
•  Bumrah had induced the edge with a well-placed delivery, fuller side of good length in the corridor of uncertainty at 142.5 kph

Bumrah finds seam movement, and Siraj has swing on offer! 

So, this could be tough for South Africa as the Indian pace duo can really relish on this Guwahati pitch that has offered movement early on. Apart from two byes for eight runs, bowling has been good as India eye first wicket

Ryan Rickelton and Aiden Markram are at the crease, with the latter taking the strike against Jasprit Bumrah! 

India would love to have a great start just to get their confidence rolling! We'll wait to see how this pitch behaves in the first hours. And Bumrah runs in for the first ball.... and there comes some late seam movement. First ball hits the seam and moves slightly away as Markram leaves it for Pant.

• The crowd is slowly taking their seats, and the atmosphere is anticipated to become more lively
