India squad announcement for IND vs SA ODIs LIVE

The squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series between India and South Africa will be picked by the selectors on Sunday. The IND vs SA ODIs are scheduled to commence from November 30 onwards, shortly after the conclusion of the Test series. Earlier, it was reported that the selection committee will meet in Guwahati and will pick the team after the end of play on Day 2 of the IND vs SA 2nd Test.

However, as per IANS, the selectors led by chief selector Ajit Agarkar will instead meet in Mumbai on Sunday to decide on the squad for the ODI series. With regular captain Shubman Gill all but confirmed to miss the series, reports have claimed KL Rahul is the frontrunner to take over the reins of the team for the series. Shreyas Iyer, the ODI vice-captain, is also set to miss the series. Meanwhile, Hardik Pandya is expected to return to the line-up, having recovered from his injury.

"Rahul's captaincy is one off and should be seen in isolation. Rishabh (Pant) wasn't considered as he has played only one ODI game in the last one year. The selectors expect that Shubman Gill's neck injury will heal and he will be back against New Zealand (3 ODIs in January 2026), a BCCI selector said.
