With Will Young (87), he added 161-run stand after Devon Conway and Henry Nicholls fell early at 46/2. But since then, the Kiwis never looked back. Kuldeep Yadav eventually broke the century stand but Glenn Phillips (32) kept his calm as the Kiwis chased down the 285-run target in the 48th over.
Earlier, India set a 285-run target for New Zealand in the 2nd ODI in Rajkot as KL Rahul remained unbeaten on 112. He lifted India from deep trouble as runs dried up in the middle overs. Shubman Gill scored a fifty but perished soon. Gill and Rohit Sharma gave India a 70-run opening stand but Kristian Clarke gave New Zealand a breakthrough, removing the latter for 24. With Virat Kohli (23) and Shreyas Iyer (8) failing to fire, India struggled in the middle-overs with Ravindra Jadeja scoring 27 at a snail’s pace.
