SA20 2023: Sunrisers Eastern Cape
The inaugural edition of the tournament, which was played from January 10 to February 12, 2023, saw the then Aiden Markram-led Sunrisers Eastern Cape claim the title. The Sunrisers Hyderabad-owned franchise defeated Pretoria Capitals by four wickets in Johannesburg to claim the maiden title.
SA20 2024: Sunrisers Eastern Cape
The Gqeberha-based Sunrisers Eastern Cape continued their dominance in the tournament as they went on todefend their title, beating the Durban Super Giants by an 89-run margin in Newlands, Cape Town. After finishing at the top of the points table, having won seven of the ten league stage fixtures, they etched history to claim back-to-back SA20 titles.
SA20 2025: MI Cape Town
The third edition, which was played from January 9 to February 8, once again saw the SRH-owned franchise in power. But like the previous two seasons, this time they were edged out by MI Cape Town. The Mumbai Indians (MI)-owned franchise finished the group stage as table toppers and beat Sunrisers Eastern Cape in the finale in Johannesburg by 76 runs. With this, the MI-owned franchise added another title to its illustrious T20 franchise league history and its first in SA20 history.
SA20 2026: Sunrisers Eastern Cape
While Sunrisers failed to complete their hat-trick, they have done it thrice in four years. Unreal consistency by the Kavya Maran-owned side as they once again won the SA20 title. They beat Pretoria Capitals, spoiling Sourav Ganguly’s maiden stint as head coach. Dewald Brevis scored a phenomenal century in the final but it didn’t stop the Sunrisers to win at the Newlands. Despite early setbacks, Matthew Breetzke and Tristan Stubbs led the fightback successfully.
