Reckoned as one of the best franchise T20 leagues in the world after the esteemed Indian Premier League (IPL), the SA20 has offered nail-biting matches with players performing with the bat as well as the ball. As the league is currently hosting its fourth edition, it has also offered some breathtaking bowling performances. With a lot of action in T20 cricket, fast bowlers as well as crafty spinners have established themselves in the wicket-taking list.

Here in this article, we have listed the top wicket-takers in the SA20 history as on date (January 11, 2026) with the fourth edition of the tournament nearing its playoffs stage.

List of players to take most wickets in SA20

Lungi Ngidi (31 wickets)

Spearheading the Pretoria Capitals’ lineup this season, Lungi Ngidi sits in fifth place after the trio of Bjorn, Maharaj and Bosch, who are the joint fourth-highest wicket-takers. In 31 games in the league while playing for two franchises until now, Lungi Ngidi has picked up 31 wickets at an economy of 8.96.

Bjorn Fortuin, Keshav Maharaj and Eathan Bosch (32 wickets each)

The fourth place in the most wicket-takers’ list is secured by as many as three players, namely, the versatile Keshav Maharaj, Eathan Bosch and Bjorn Fortuin. All three have picked up 32 wickets in 40, 35 and 39 matches respectively in the T20 league.

Kagiso Rabada (37 wickets)

30-year-old Johannesburg-born Kagiso Rabada has been a trusted bowler for the Protean side. Having played as many as 32 matches for the MI Cape Town in SA20 so far, the pacer has scalped 37 wickets as on date at an economy of 8.08.

Marco Jansen (51 wickets)

The two-time SA20 winner, Marco Jansen has been sensational with the ball in the franchise T20 league. He topped the wicket-taking charts in the second edition of the tournament with 20 wickets and overall has picked up 51 wickets in 40 matches for Sunrisers Eastern Cape.

Ottneil Baartman (52 wickets)

    South Africa right-arm medium fast bowler, Ottneil Baartman, is the leading wicket-taker in the SA20 history, having picked up 52 wickets at the time of writing from 20 matches. The 32-year-old recently surpassed Marco Jansen to achieve this feat in the ongoing SA20 2025-26 season.
