The bidding began at Rs 2 crore for Green with KKR and RR kick-starting the bidding war. Despite entering the auction with just Rs 16.50 crore, Royals bid till Rs 13 crore for the Australian all-rounder. Meanwhile, KKR had the highest purse with Rs 64.30 crore in the IPL 2026 auction. Chennai Super Kings joined the bidding war late with an amount of Rs 13.80 crore. The bidding war then continued between CSK and KKR as RR pulled out.
CSK and KKR were involved in a fierce biding war until the former pulled out when the amount reached over Rs 25 crore. Eventually, Green was bagged by KKR for Rs 25.20 crore. With that amount, Green becomes the most expensive overseas player to be sold in the IPL auction, surpassing Mitchell Starc.
Green made his IPL debut in 2023 where he amassed 452 runs and bagged six wickets for Mumbai Indians. He was then traded to RCB in IPL 2024 where he managed to score 255 runs and picked 10 wickets. The following year, Cameron did not take part in the IPL 2025 mega auction as he had gone under the knife for a back injury and was recovering.
