Former India cricket team star Venkatesh Prasad claimed that his focus will be on improving infrastructure and bringing back international cricket t the state if elected as the KSCA president. The ex-Indian bowler is running for the top position which has been lying vacant for many months now. Bengaluru, which witnessed the stampede after RCB’s win in IPL 2025, has been ignored as an international venue and has not been short-listed for the T20 World Cup 2026 either.
‘Infrastructure in shambles…’
Speaking to media on Tuesday, Prasad said that it was his responsibility to give it back to the association and the youngsters. The former India cricketer stated that the infrastructure, dressing room and facilities in the state were in shambles at present and vowed to bring back international cricket to Bengaluru. Prasad is backed by Anil Kumble and Javgal Srinath in the race for the post of KSCA president.
“It’s a responsibility to give it back to the association, youngsters. The infrastructure, dressing room and facilities are in shambles. We need to develop it and give more opportunity to bring more grounds into our fold and organize the game in a structured way, which is what we are planning to do and the most important thing is to get back international matches. We want to revive that glory,” Prasad said.
Kumble backed Prasad in the race and claimed that Karnataka cricket was suffering at the moment. Srinath, meanwhile, said that it was time for the KSCA’s focus to return to cricket. Sujith Somasundar is running for vice-president, Vinay Mruthyunjaya for secretary, AV Sridhar for joint-secretary and BN Madhukar for treasurer.
“What’s important is that we have all gathered here for cricket. Hats off to Venky for initiating this whole process. We are here because we feel Karnataka cricket is suffering and we want to make a difference,” Kumble said.
