IPL 2026 trade news is what has caught the attention of the fans in the last few days. Of course, there have been confirmed reports about the trade deal between CSK and RR, for Ravindra Jadeja-Sanju Samson swap, but another high-profile deal, albeit with another team might be just done.
Shardul Thakur to move to MI?
Former India off-spinner R Ashwin feels that MI might have just completed the trade deal for LSG pacer Shardul Thakur. “I don’t see any releases happening from MI. Will they try to secure a replacement for Deepak Chahar, who’s a bit injury-prone? They have secured Shardul Thakur on a trade from LSG,” Ashwin said, quoted as saying by cricket.com.
In fact, a fresh report from Cricbuzz suggests, that Arjun Tendulkar could be on his way to LSG, so that Thakur can come to MI.

Shardul has been one of those fringe players, who comes up with a few substantial performances, but never really gets a long rope. He recently also made his India comeback for the IND vs ENG Test series. Last year, he was brought as an injury replacement by the Lukcnow franchise.
In the IPL 2025 season, in 10 matches he ended up picking 13 wickets at an economy of 11. On the other hand, Chahar picked up 11 wickets in 14 matches. It would be interesting to see, if this deal does take place eventually or not. Meanwhile, all teams are supposed to come up with their IPL 2026 retention lists soon, and the official announcement will be made on Nov. 15.
As for Arjun, he has spent a few seasons with MI, but has played only five matches, where he has picked up three wickets
