Removing his hundred in the first innings for the SRH, Ishan Kishan scored 248 runs in the IPL 2025 season.

Alongside Sanju Samson, Ishan Kishan might be the hottest commodity before the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 mini-auction. Good wicketkeeper batters aren’t easy to find, and that’s why three different franchises have shown interest in acquiring Kishan from the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).

Bought for INR 11.25 crore, Kishan didn’t have a great season. But the lack of quality keeper batters has the team fighting for him. If one removes his two best innings of IPL 2025, 106 and 94, Kishan scored just 154 runs in 11 innings at 15.40 and a strike rate of 112.40 for SRH.

Mumbai Indians want Kishan back

According to the Times of India, the Mumbai Indians (MI), his old IPL franchise, have approached SRH for a trade or all-cash deal. Kishan had played seven seasons for them and is still their sixth-highest scorer.

Mumbai had a wicketkeeper issue in IPL 2025. It looked like Robin Minz wasn’t fit for this level of cricket. Shrijith Krishnan didn’t get a game. Ryan Rickelton had a good maiden season, but his inclusion forced Hardik Pandya‘s team to juggle their other three overseas players.

RR and KKR join the race

Apart from MI, the Rajasthan Royals (RR) and the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have shown interest as well. Rumour has it that Rajasthan and Samson will part ways. If that happens, they’ll need a quality Indian wicketkeeper-batter to replace him. That’s why them going after Kishan makes perfect sense.

As for KKR, Quinton de Kock and Rahmanullah Gurbaz were poor for them. Both of them are foreign players who underperformed and acquired one of the four overseas slots. Their Indian keeper, Luvnith Sisodia, didn’t even play in IPL 2025.

However, SRH aren’t that keen on letting Kishan go. Finding quality Indian wicketkeepers isn’t easy, and Sunrisers know that. However, Kishan might be interested in leaving. Given how lucrative it might be, the 27-year-old could consider entering the auction, and one of these three teams might then secure his services.
