IPL 2026: All well between CSK & R Ashwin? All-rounder all set to part ways with franchise

IPL 2026: R Ashwin had come to CSK after a long gap of 10 years, and now there are reports saying he is ready to leave the team again.

Cricket in India is unpredictable, and IPL only adds to it manyfold. Almost a month back, there were rumours that R Ashwin could and another player could be swapped by the CSK in the IPL trade window, for Sanju Samson. On Friday, a report in Cricbuzz emerged, that spoke about the Chennai management wanting to stick to their existing set of players. But a day later, a fresh report in the same publication suggests that R Ashwin, the veteran all-rounder wants to enter the auction.

R Ashwin to Leave CSK Before IPL 2026?

While the exact reason is still not clear, Ashwin seems to have made up his mind, and has conveyed the decision to the team. This after, he came back to CSK after a gap of many years, and was bagged by the team in the IPL auction for INR 9.75 Cr. It also seems that Ashwin will most likely give up his role of Director of Operations at the CSK Academy, since being associated with another team, might give rise to conflict of interest.

What Happens to Sanju Samson IPL Trade?

As far as his career is concerned, in the IPL, he has played 221 matches, where he has picked up 187 wickets, at an economy of 7.29 and also scored 833 runs at a strike rate of 118. He did not have a great season earlier this year, where he picked up 7 wickets in 9 matches, with an economy over 9.

Meanwhile, Ruturaj Gaikwad and MS Dhoni are in Chennai to discuss the future of the franchise. It remains to be seen, what important decisions are taken in the next few days. The previous report had also spoken about the Sanju Samson IPL trade deal with RR, hitting a roadblock.
