BCCI slaps fine on RCB captain Rajat Patidar after win over Mumbai Indians

RCB captain Rajat Patidar penalised under IPL Code of Conduct Article 2.2 after leading team to rare Wankhede victory.

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) captain Rajat Patidar has been fined by the BCCI for maintaining a lower over rate during the clash against Mumbai Indians. This marks the team’s first offence of the season under Article 2.2 of the IPL Code of Conduct, which pertains to minimum over-rate offences. He will be fined Rs 12 lakhs for this.

What does Article 2.2 say?

Article 2.2 of the IPL Code of conduct says, Failure by a fielding Team participating in a Match to meet the Minimum Over Rate requirements contained in Appendix 2 constitutes an offence under this Code of Conduct by the relevant Team Captain and each of the Players in that fielding Team.

Rajat Patidar’s performance in MI vs RCB

Rajat played a beautiful knock against Mumbai Indians at Wankhede Stadium, leading his team to a 12-run victory. In the first innings, RCB batted first, and Rajat Patidar scored a commanding knock of 64 runs off 32 balls with a strike rate of 200. For this performance, he was also named the Player of the Match.

RCB crushes MI after 10 years in Wankhede

Royal Challengers Bangalore crushed Mumbai Indians after 10 years at Wankhede Stadium, breaking the jinx. Batting first, they scored 221 runs. In reply, Mumbai Indians managed only 209 runs, resulting in a 12-run win for RCB.

RCB currently holds third place in the points table after playing four matches. They have won three matches and lost one, accumulating 6 points.
