Just days after his second marriage, former India cricketer Shikhar Dhawan has slammed fans for making fake statements on his personal life. Dhawan tied a knot with long-time girlfriend Sophie Shine in a private ceremony on February 21 in Delhi. The former India opener took to social media to share an update around his personal life, along with images from their intimate wedding.
Soon afterwards, fabricated quotes started to circulate on social media about Dhawan’s personal life.
Dhawan’s statement on fake quotes
In reply, the 40-year-old has finally opened up, slamming fans for spreading “insensitive and false statements”. Taking to X, Dhawan in an elaborated post wrote, “I have come across some posts on social media attributing a disappointing statement about my personal life. I have never carried baggage from the past be it on the pitch or outside. I firmly believe in the power of positivity while respecting my past.”
The 40-year-old further urged people to not spread false statements and instead promote “love and positivity”. “This is a new chapter in my life, and I feel truly grateful for the love and blessings I have received from my fans, friends, family, well wishers and media. I strongly urge people to not breed off my name with click bait, insensitive and false statements on social media. Let’s spread love and positivity,” he further added.
Shikhar Dhawan ties knot with Sophie Shine
Dhawan, who made his relationship with Sophie Shine official in May 2025 and got engaged with his long-time girlfriend in January this year, finally got married in a three-day wedding functions. Although, the couple have been together for reportedly two years and have been spotted together numerable times, were seen enjoying the wedding festivities as they also shared glimpses of the functions on their respective social media handles.
The wedding ceremony even got glittered with the presence of members of the Indian cricketing fraternity. Former India captain and Dhawan’s opening partner in ODIs, Rohit Sharma joined in the celebration with his wife Ritika Sajdeh, along with Yuzvendra Chahal, Yuvraj Singh, Suresh Raina and a few others.
