India cricket team vice-captain Shubman Gill is all set to return to action in the IND vs SA T20I series, having recovered from his neck injury. The Punjab batter had to miss the IND vs SA 2nd Test and the three-match ODI series following an injury he sustained during the 1st Test at Eden Gardens. Gill had recently been cleared by the BCCI’s CoE after spending some time at the facility as a part of his rehab.

As per Cricbuzz, Gill landed in Bhubaneswar on Sunday night ahead of the IND vs SA 1st T20I. The first game of the five-match series will take place at the Barabati stadium in Cuttack on December 9. The report states that Shubman reached the Odisha capital at 9 PM after a long day of travel. Meanwhile, Indian cricketers who were a part of the ODI squad took a chartered flight from Visakhapatnam to Bhubaneswar on Sunday morning.

Gill was named in the Indian squad for the IND vs SA T20Is, but it was subject to his fitness clearance. However, following the conclusion of the ODI series, head coach Gautam Gambhir confirmed that Shubman was fit and is all set to make his comeback in the shortest format.

“Yes, Shubman is ready to start. That’s why he has been selected. And obviously he is fit and fine, hungry to go,” Gambhir told reporters.
