So far, the Indian team has remained pretty consistent in the way they have batted, in the T20 World Cup 2026. After losing wicket/s upfront, there is a bit of caution in the middle overs, while the batters try to pick up pace in the latter half of innings. But that has been due to the extra pressure the early wickets is putting.
Change in batting order possible in IND vs SA
Otherwise, Suryakumar Yadav & Co will be looking to play an aggressive brand of cricket, that could be too hot to handle for the opposition, in this case South Africa on Sunday. If all goes as per plan, there could be a promotion in the batting order for Hardik Pandya or Shivam Dube, but conditions apply.
Speaking on the eve of the IND vs SA encounter in Ahmedabad, Surya listed what that condition was. “Except the openers, 3-8 have to be flexible. If there’s no wicket down till 8-9 overs you might see Dube or Pandya walking in. Even my position is flexible,” Surya went on to say.
Batting against spin no issues
But again, that is easier said than done. The batters have largely struggled against spinners in all the matches so far. And South Africa would be looking to use the likes of Aiden Markram, Tristan Stubbs, George Linde and Keshav Maharaj. TO this threat, the skipper assured, that the team is well-equipped to handle any attack.
“It doesn’t matter who bowls, right arm off spinner or anyone else. We’ve played enough to know how to take on anyone. The batters in their individual capacity have their gameplan and know what to do.”
