After another successful Women’s Premier League (WPL) season, the women’s international calendar is back on track. India Women begin a crucial overseas assignment on February 15 when they take on Australia Women in the first T20I at the Sydney Cricket Ground. With the Women’s T20 World Cup scheduled for June–July in England and Wales, this three-match contest will serve as a serious test of where both teams stand.
India arrive in Australia as reigning ODI world champions and ranked No. 3 in T20Is. Australia, the No. 1 side in the format, are entering a new chapter under Sophie Molineux, who has been named multi-format captain following Alyssa Healy’s decision to step away from T20Is for this tour. This is Healy’s farewell series as well.
Harmanpreet Kaur leads a settled first-choice Indian squad. Smriti Mandhana, Jemimah Rodrigues and Deepti Sharma remain key pillars. Shreyanka Patil and Bharti Fulmali return to the side, while Harleen Deol misses out. India recently swept Sri Lanka 5-0 in T20Is and will look to carry that momentum into tougher conditions.
