India cricket team have decided to go ahead with an unchanged playing XI for the IND vs AUS 4th T20I in Gold Coast on Thursday. Australia cricket team won the toss and have opted to bat first in the contest. This means while Sanju Samson will continue to warm the bench, with India wanting to give Jitesh Sharma another game.
India playing XI for IND vs AUS 4th T20I
Abhishek Sharma, Shubman Gill, Suryakumar Yadav(c), Tilak Varma, Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, Jitesh Sharma(w), Shivam Dube, Arshdeep Singh, Varun Chakaravarthy, Jasprit Bumrah
On bench: Rinku Singh, Sanju Samson, Harshit Rana
Jitesh, who returned to the T20I side for the first time since January 2024 in the previous game, has gotten another opportunity. He played a handy 22-run cameo and stitched together a good partnership with Sundar towards the end which helped India get across the line in the 3rd T20I. Intrestingly, Samson – who arrived at the venue 3 hours before the rest of the team – has been left to warm the bench again.
In the absence of Kuldeep Yadav, India’s spin unit will comprise of Axar, Chakravarthy and Sundar. It will be interesting to see if captain SKY will use the Tamil Nadu all-rounder with the ball in this game after surprisingly not giving him even a single over in the last game.
Dube, who was quite expensive in the previous game with the ball, has been picked over Harshit Rana once again. This of course once again underlines head coach Gautam Gambhir obsession with all-rounders.
India’s top and middle-order has been left untouched as the onus will be on the captain and his deputy to score runs after consistent failures.
