India Champions Trophy 2025: Who won the Fielding Medal after IND vs BAN match?

India kicked off their Champions Trophy 2025 campaign with a dominating win over Bangladesh, showcasing impressive batting, bowling, and, most importantly, fielding. But who won the fielding medal this time?

In the 2023 ODI World Cup, where India was completely dominating every team, their on-field performances garnered attention. However, what also grabbed the spotlight was the fielding medal, as fans were always eager to know who won the Best Fielding Medal, especially as India was performing wonderfully in the field, taking catches and making several players the recipients of the award. Now, once again, that medal is back. Although it was part of the T20 World Cup as well, in the Indian dressing room, it is now back for the Champions Trophy.

India dominated Bangladesh in the first match, and we witnessed some marvelous fielding. Yes, there were a few dropped catches, including one from Rohit Sharma during Axar Patel’s hat-trick delivery. Sharma, known for being one of the safest slip fielders, dropped a simple catch. Also, Hardik Pandya, standing at mid-off, also dropped a catch. However, as mentioned, several players also pulled off impressive catches. This time, after the match, India’s fielding coach T. Dilip announced that the nominees for the award, as shown in the given video, were Virat Kohli, Shubman Gill, and KL Rahul. In the end, KL Rahul clinched the medal, which was presented to him by Ravindra Jadeja.

Always wonderful behind the stumps, whether helping with DRS judgments, dismissing the bails, or taking catches, it seems like what MS Dhoni used to do in the past. Now, KL Rahul is doing the same, becoming a complete king behind the stumps. He is surely deserved to be the winner of the fielding medal, as the wicketkeeping he showed in the Champions Trophy game against Bangladesh demonstrated how impressive his wicketkeeping is for the Indian camp.
