The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced a 15-member squad for India A’s multi-day games against Australia A scheduled to begin from September 16. Shreyas Iyer, who last played a Test in 2024 an was recently snubbed from India’s Asia Cup 2025 squad, has been named the captain of the side. The series against Australia A will be an audition stage for some players seeking entry into the Indian Test side before the West Indies series.

Iyer’s return to the Test team is now all but confirmed as he is set to lead India A against Australia A. He will have to make most of the two-match series in order to cement his place in India’s side for the West Indies Tests. Dhruv Jurel has been named his deputy.
The BCCI also stated that Mohammed Siraj and KL Rahul will be added to the squad for the second multi-day game that will begin from September 23. Both the stars, who played all 5 Tests in the IND vs ENG series, are currently on a break. The second multi-day game against Australia A will serve as a warm-up contest for the duo before the IND vs WI series. Nitish Reddy, Sudharsan, Prasidh, Easwaran, Jagadeesan – who were also a part of the England tour – have been named in the squad.
While domestic performers like Kotian, Suthar, Thakur, Khaleel and Dubey have been rewarded, a notable omission from the squad is that of Sarfaraz Khan. Other absentees include MP captain Rajat Patidar and Maharashtra’s Ruturaj Gaikwad.

The multi-day matches will be followed by three one-day games, scheduled to take place on September 30 October 3 and October 5 respectively in Kanpur.
