InsideSport takes a look at the time/session changes that have been implemented for the IND vs SA 2nd Test in Guwahati.

We are so accustomed to seeing players take lunch and tea in Test matches, that a change in this pattern is unheard of. But then, as Guwahati braces to host its first ever Test, this is to change as well. Due to an early sunset, and time constraints, the players will first take tea, upon the end of the first session, followed by lunch. That also means an early start to the encounter.

Session Timings for IND vs SA in Guwahati, Barsapara Stadium

1st Session: 9 am to 11 am

Tea: 11 am to 11.20 am

2nd Session: 11.20 am to 01.20 pm

Lunch: 01.20 pm to 2.00 pm

3rd Session: 02.00 pm to 04.00 pm

What did they say?

Sai Sudharsan: “I don’t mind having tea before lunch; I already drink tea during lunch, so I’ll probably enjoy it. Of course, it’s new, but we’ll get used to it. It’s exciting to explore,” he said on JioHotStar’s ‘Follow The Blues.

Keshav Maharaj: “We actually heard about it recently. It’s an interesting one, but you can understand the thinking behind it. Sunlight becomes a factor, so they’re trying to maximise playing time. We respect the rules put in place, and we’re here to compete and give our best as a South African unit,” he said.
