India cricket team vice-captain Shubman Gill was among the players who took part in an optional training session on Saturday ahead of the IND vs PAK tie. After clinching convincing wins against UAE and Pakistan, Suryakumar Yadav and co. had to put up a fight in their final group stage match against Oman to secure a 21-run victory. The Men in Blue will next take on Pakistan in their first Super 4 game on Sunday.
Gill, Sharma, Chakravarthy attend practice session before IND vs PAK
As per news agency PTI, Gill was accompanied by Abhishek Sharma and Varun Chakravarthy for the optional practice session at the ICC Academy in Dubai on Saturday. Visuals of the session showed head coach Gautam Gambhir and bowling coach Morne Morkel watching on closely as Varun and Gill sweated it out in the nets.
So far in Asia Cup 2025, Abhishek has managed to get scores of 30, 31 and 38. His opening partner Gill hasn’t managed to fire so far, with knocks of 20, 10 and 5. Meanwhile, Chakravarthy has bagged two wickets in two games. The Indian vice-captain will be hoping to bring his A-game in the Super 4 tie against Pakistan on Sunday.
Meanwhile, the entire Pakistan team arrived for a practice session at the same time during which India trained at the ICC Academy. By the looks of it, it wasn’t an optional session for the Men in Green unlike their arch-rivals.
Pakistan has had a mixed-run so far in the tournament. After beating Oman by 93 runs in their Asia Cup opener, Salman Ali Agha and co. were handed a 7-wicket thrashing by India. They then bounced back in the next do-or-die game against UAE and secured a comprehensive 41-run win to make it to the Super 4.
