The high-octane match between arch-rivals India and Pakistan in the 2026 T20 World Cup is likely to take place on February 15. Although the International Cricket Council (ICC) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) haven’t announced the schedule, it’s expected that the T20 World Cup will run from February 7 to March 8, 2026.
IND vs PAK match on Feb 15 in Colombo
Earlier in the year, the BCCI and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had agreed upon playing India vs Pakistan matches at neutral venues. Since Sri Lanka has been announced as a co-host, it’s expected that the biggest match of the tournament will take place in Colombo.
According to RevSportz, India will play their opening match of the T20 World Cup against the USA, the co-hosts of the last edition of the tournament. Whether it’ll be the tournament opener isn’t confirmed yet. It’s been reported that Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad will host both the opening game and the final of the T20 World Cup.
Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai has been shortlisted to host one of the semifinals. The other venue isn’t confirmed, as Pakistan will play all of their matches in Sri Lanka, and if they qualify for the semifinal, they won’t play in India. The other three venues in India are Delhi, Kolkata, and Chennai. Sri Lanka Cricket Board (SLC) has finalised Colombo and Pallekele, and one of Dambulla or Hambantota will be the third.
Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, which hasn’t been granted permission to host any cricket matches since July, is likely to be used for warm-up matches. The Bengaluru court has deemed the ground unfit for mass gatherings. Until Chinnaswamy passes the safety check, it’ll continue to be ignored by the BCCI.
