Arshdeep Singh proved once again why he’s India’s best bowler in T20Is as he finished with a three-wicket haul in IND vs AUS 3rd T20I. Despite being India’s leading wicket-taker in T20Is, the southpaw was left out of the playing XI for the games in Canberra and Melbourne. Arshdeep responded to his snub in style, finishing as the highest wicket-taker for India in the contest in Hobart on Sunday.
Arshdeep Singh takes 3-fer on T20I return
Arshdeep finished with figures of 3/35 from his quota of 4 overs in the IND vs AUS 3rd T20I. He struck twice in his first two overs, giving India the upper hand early on in the innings before Tim David decimated the rest of the bowlers. Arshdeep’s first victim was Travis Head who was caught out in the very first over. His his next over, he got rid of Josh Inglis as the batter was caught out by Axar Patel as he attempted a big hit. Arshdeep’s final victim was Marcus Stoinis as the set batter was dismissed for 64 runs, thanks to Rinku Singh taking a catch.
With 104 wickets to his name to his name from 66 T20Is, Arshdeep is the fastest and the first Indian bowler to go past 100 wickets in the shortest format of the game. Despite his credentials, the southpaw was left out of the playing XI in the 1st and the 2nd T20I, leading to many former cricketers questioning head coach Gautam Gambhir and captain Suryakumar Yadav’s strategy.
India finally managed to win a toss and opted to field first in Hobart. After a couple of early strikes from Arshdeep, Tim David steadied the ship for Australia with his 74-run knock. Stoinis then piled up more misery on India with his 64-run knock, allowing Australia to finish at 186/6 at the end of 20 overs.
