Captain Rishabh Pant scored a fine 90 but it was India’s lower order that rescued them with a win on Sunday. Chasing 275 to win, India A captain Pant top scored 90 on Day 4 of the 1st unofficial Test at BCCI’s CoE.
Pant stars in India A win
Having conceded a 75-run lead, India A bounced back with a clinical performance on the final two days of the game. Tanush Kotian chipped in with a four wickets haul as the Proteas were shot down for 199. Anshul Kamboj was another bowler to impress, striking thrice.
In the chase, India were in trouble losing 32/3. However, captain Rishabh Pant stitched viral partnerships with Rajat Patidar and Ayush Badoni to guide India towards a platform for a chase. Pant’s dismissal threw India in a tough spot with still 80 more to get with 5 wickets. Ayush Badoni soon departed, further making it a difficult chase.
Kamboj and Kotian, who starred with ball in hand, later turned it on with the bat. Manav Suthar also chipped in with a crucial 20 to see India over the line.
Pant’s return to runs was crucial for India, while Kamboj and Kotian both have shown they are ready for further action with the national team.
