Indian men’s cricket team’s current T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav recently shared some stories related to the T20 World Cup win in 2024. In the tournament, Suryakumar Yadav proved to be an important player for India. In the final over of the final match against South Africa, he caught David Miller’s catch which ultimately proved to be a game-changing moment of the World Cup win. This crucial moment is one that Suryakumar cherishes deeply. At the India Today Conclave 2025, he expressed how often he revisits that defining catch. “I watch it every, every hour, whenever I get an opportunity to use the phone, I watch it a lot of times,” he shared, showing his love for the moment.
Suryakumar Yadav’s tattoo challenge
Following this iconic win, Suryakumar considered making a new tattoo to celebrate the win and keep the moment with him forever. However, his wife, Devisha, who isn’t keen on tattoos, felt he shouldn’t get one. On that part, she agreed, but not now. She has set a challenge for him, to achieve and win the T20 World Cup 2026, and then he can get his desired tattoo. “I requested her post that T20 World Cup win to let me get something done on my hand. But she was like there’s another World Cup coming in sometime. Do something special and get a tattoo.” he said.
Looking Ahead to 2026 World Cup
Suryakumar Yadav won the 2024 T20 World Cup with India under Rohit Sharma’s captaincy, now he has bigger weight on him. As he’s the captain, if he wins the T20 World Cup in 2026, he will script his name as the T20 World Cup winning captain along with Rohit Sharma and MS Dhoni who won it in 2007.
