India have a tough task at hand as they aim to chase down the 124-run target in the IND vs SA 1st Test at the Eden Gardens

India cricket team will be chasing history as they aim to register the highest successful run-chase at Kokata’s Eden Gardens in the IND vs SA 1st Test. Only once in the past has a 100+ run target been chased down at the venue and it came way back in 2004 when the same two sides had locked horns. India have been given a tough task, with South Africa posting a 124-run target for India on Sunday.

Highest successful run-chase at Eden Gardens

The highest successful run-chase at Eden Gardens before the IND vs SA 1st Test was in 2004 when India chased down 117 runs against South Africa. This will be the only the second time that a 100+ total will be chased down in Tests in Kolkata. The road to victory won’t be an easy one for India on Sunday as the Proteas are troubling the Indian batters.

IND vs SA 1st Test, Day 3

South Africa resumed their innings on Day 3 with a 63-run lead against India at 93/7, with Temba Bavuma at the crease. Corbin Bosch was the first batter to depart as Bumrah knocked his stump over. The South African captain, however, continued to frustrate the hosts as he brought up his 26th Test half-century and ensured SA’s lead went past 100. It was then Siraj who struck twice in two overs to bowl out the Proteas for 153 runs.
