Harmanpreet Kaur has found a special way to remember India’s historic Women’s World Cup win. The Indian captain revealed a new tattoo on her bicep, an image of the World Cup trophy, a symbol of the biggest achievement of her career. She shared the tattoo on Instagram, calling it a reminder of a dream that finally came true.
Harmanpreet Kaur’s new World Cup tattoo
“Waited for you since Day 1, and now I’ll see you every morning and be grateful,” Harmanpreet wrote with the picture, showing off her new ink. The design is simple yet powerful, marking the end of a long journey that began when she made her debut back in 2009.
Harmanpreet got the tattoo just two day after India lifted the trophy in front of a packed DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. The team had defeated South Africa by 52 runs in a commanding performance that ended decades of heartbreak. Shafali Verma starred with an all-round show, while Deepti Sharma’s five-wicket haul sealed India’s maiden World Cup title.
For Harmanpreet, the win was extremely emotional. It was redemption after years of near misses, including the painful 2017 final defeat to England. This time, the victory was sweet and emotional. After the match, she was seen embracing her father in tears, touching head coach Amul Muzumdar’s feet and singing her heart out.
Interestingly, in a video shared by the BCCI earlier today, even Smriti Mandhana was seen flexing a new ‘World Cup’ tattoo on her arm. Her soon-to-be-husband Palash Mucchal also recently revealed a heartwarming ‘SM18’ ink. Soon after getting inked, Harmanpreet and her teammates flew to Delhi to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The celebrations continued across the country, with fans hailing the team’s effort.
