India all-rounder Hardik Pandya achieved a massive feat in T20Is, as he reached 100 wickets in the format, during the third match between IND & SA, in Dharamsala on Sunday. This achievement came in his 123rd match, when he picked up the wicket of Tristan Stubbs, reducing the Proteas to only 30/4.
Hardik Pandya reaches 100 wickets
That also means, Hardik Pandya is now only the third Indian player after Bumrah and Arshdeep to reach the 100-wicket mark. But what is fascinating is, he is the slowest to reach the mark. But that are not really suggestive of how good he has been for Team India. Meanwhile, the fastest was Rashid Khan, who reached the mark in only 53 matches.
Joins Jasprit Bumrah & Arshdeep Singh
Arshdeep is the fastest Indian with 100 wickets in 64 matches, while Bumrah reached 100 wickets in 81 encounters. Coming back to Pandya, he averages only 26 in these matches, where his strike-rate has been under 20. His best has been 4/16 and economy has been only 8.24 so far.
As far as the match is concerned, India won the toss and opted to bowl first. Right from the start, the Indian bowlers were at their very best, and reduced the Proteas to 7/3. The series is locked at 1-1 currently. In the first match, India scored 174, and the Proteas were bundled out for 74.
In the second encounter in Vizag, the visiting side scored 213 runs and India were bundled out for 162.
