Good news for England, Mark Wood regains fitness after surgery, bowls at nets

IND vs ENG: Pacer Mark Wood has been out of action for four months now, due to a knee surgery, and could be back for the last two matches.

Right after the Champions Trophy 2025, the English team suffered a major jolt, when speedster Mark Wood was ruled out for four months, after a knee surgery. But finally, all seems well with him, as he was spotted in England nets on Wednesday, as per various reports. As per The Telegraph’s Will Macpherson, Wood also bowled at the nets, though not in full flow.

Mark Wood Back for IND vs ENG Tests?

As soon as the news of his surgery was out, it was quite clear that would miss at least first three Tests of the IND vs ENG series. That holds true for now. Depending upon his recovery, a call could be taken before the fourth Test, or even fifth. That just goes on to show, how England have been struggling with their pace attack.

Till now, Jofra Archer wasn’t available, and finally could be seen in action at Lord’s. Even Gus Atkinson was out due to injury, and has joined the squad again, before the third clash. But as ill-fate would have it, Brydon Carse seems to be struggling with his toe, and might just need some rest.

Could Join Before 4th Test

In 37 Tests, Wood has picked up 119 wickets so far, at an average of 30, and with five fifers. Against India in particular, he hasn’t been the most effective, and has picked up only 9 wickets in four matches, and averages over 50.

England Squad: Ben Stokes (c), Shoaib Bashir, Jacob Bethell, Harry Brook, Brydon Carse, Sam Cook, Zak Crawley, Ben Duckett, Jamie Overton, Ollie Pope, Joe Root, Jamie Smith (wk), Josh Tongue, Chris Woakes, Gus Atkinson.
