BCCI vice president Rajeev Shukla has thrown his weight behind Harshit Rana ahead of the IND vs AUS ODI series. Rana has copped criticism for his selection across formats despite lackluster performances. Head coach Gautam Gambhir has also been accused of favouritism in the Delhi pacer’s regard from former selector Kris Srikanth.
Complaints should be done responsibly: BCCI VP backs Harshit, Gambhir
Harshit Rana’s continued inclusion in the Indian side has drawn bewilderment among fans and pundits alike. Gambhir worked with the Delhi pacer during his title winning season with the Kolkata Knight Riders which has paved way for his selection in the Indian side. Harshit was retained in the ODI side for the IND vs AUS series ahead of Mohammed Shami. Among the harshest critics have been formed selector Kris Srikanth, who termed Harshit was a permanent member of the team.
“Gautam Gambhir is right. If someone has any complaints about the players, then it should be done responsibly. This will bring the players’ morale down. It is the job of the team to select players. So, before you say anything about the players, you should think about how much responsibility you should take,” Shukla said while speaking exclusively to ANI.
