The trifecta of India vs Pakistan matches at the Men’s Asia Cup 2025 will come to an end on September 28 in Dubai. Unlike the last decade, the tension has been palpable this time around. Team India didn’t wish to shake hands. Pakistan, in reply, decided to skip post-match interviews and press conferences. Even filed complaints against ICC officials.
Then, Pakistani players made inappropriate gestures hinting at winning the recent skirmish in May. Sahibzada Farhan fired a gun with his bat, Haris Rauf enacted shooting down Indian jets, and then there was a fair amount of verbal altercation between Abhishek Sharma-Shubman Gill and Shaheen Afridi-Rauf.
Harmanpreet Kaur & Co. focused on cricket
Exactly a week after the Asia Cup Final, the women will play an India vs Pakistan match at the Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025. All of this will bleed over. The focus will be more on the conduct of players rather than the actual match.
Considering all of this, India captain Harmanpreet Kaur will have a tough task at hand. But she reassures that her team is only focused on playing good cricket. Nothing more or less.
“We don’t even discuss those things in the dressing room. We are only here to play cricket, and our focus is only on cricket,” Harmanpreet said at the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup captains’ meet.
No India vs Pakistan rivalry in women’s cricket
Unlike men’s cricket, there isn’t much rivalry between India and Pakistan in women’s cricket. The two rivals have played 11 ODIs against each other. All of them have come at multinational tournaments, and the Women in Blue have emerged victorious every time. The last five of these encounters, one in the qualifiers, have come in the Women’s ODI World Cup. If one wants to add T20I cricket as well, India Women lead Pakistan Women by 13-3.
Effectively, it’s 24-3 in all international cricket, highlighting how it’s never really been competitive between them.
