Pakistan won’t boycott UAE match
The ICC has rejected PCB’s plea to remove Andy Pycroft from the Asia Cup officials’ panel. However, it’s unlikely that Pakistan will withdraw from the tournament. That’s because PCB fears of losing INR 454 crore and facing sanctions from the ICC. PCB Chief Mohsin Naqvi is currently discussing the matter with the Pakistan government, and a decision will be taken before the Pakistan vs UAE match.

New Tean India sponsor
BCCI have onboarded Apollo Tyres as their title sponsor for Team India. The deal is worth INR 579.06 crore for the next two and a half years, until March 2028. During this period, 121 bilateral fixtures and 21 ICC matches will be played, and Apollo Tyres will pay INR 4.5 crore per bilateral game and INR 1.72 crore per ICC game.

India vs Pakistan continues
Team India was scheduled to practice at the ICC Academy from 6 PM to 9 PM local time. But they packed up before 8, since Pakistan was to train on the adjacent ground from 8 to 11. Although the Men in Green did practice, they cancelled their pre-match presser for the UAE match as a sign of protest after the handshake debacle.

West India Test squad for India
The West Indies have announced their squad for the upcoming 2-match Test series against India. Former captain Kraigg Brathwaite has been dropped for the tour beginning on October 2 in Ahmedabad. Alick Athanaze and Tagenarine Chanderpaul will return to the side, while Gudakesh Motie has been rested.

BCCI’s new selectors
Former India cricketers Pragyan Ojha and RP Singh are in line to join the BCCI selection committee for Team India. RP could take over Subroto Banerjee from the Central Zone, Ojha from S Sharath from the South Zone. Both pass the eligibility criteria, having retired at least 5 years ago.
