Varun Chakaravarthy and Abhishek Sharma are under scrutiny. India switches things up in Ahmedabad. Jemimah Rodrigues fires in Alyssa Healy’s last match. The West Indies will finally return home. And a Pakistani cricketer sues a media publication.

Abhishek Sharma will fire in Final
Abhishek Sharma’s a major talking point before the T20 World Cup final. Ravichandran Ashwin labelled his batting display in the semifinal as ‘headless’ but still backed him to play against New Zealand on March 8. Sanju Samson backed his teammate as well, confidently stating, ‘The final is going to be his day.’

India avoid back luck
Fearing the repeat of the 2023 ODI World Cup final, Team India has decided to switch hotels in Ahmedabad. The Men in Blue had stayed at ITC Narmada back then, but will make themselves at home at Taj Skyline now. Team India will also switch dressing rooms, leaving the home one for the visitors’ one.

What’s going wrong with Varun?
Ashwin also decoded why Varun Chakaravarthy’s performance has dipped. The former Indian cricketer highlighted how batters are reading Varun from his hand; he isn’t bowling well to left-handers and hasn’t been hitting the right length or lines. His variations, especially with speed, haven’t been on the money either. Read about it here.

Pakistan cricketer to sue journalist
Pakistan fast bowler Salman Mirza has vowed to take legal action against the reporter and media outlet that aired the news suggesting he misbehaved with a female housekeeping staff member at the Golden Crown Hotel in Kandy during Pakistan’s stay for the T20 World Cup. The PCB has already denied the claims made.

West Indies to fly back
Late on March 5, Windies Cricket provided an update on their departure plan. The Shai Hope-led team has been stuck in India since March 1 due to the airspace closure in Middle East. The board stated that the ICC has ensured the team and support staff will leave within the next 24 hours.

Healy’s last match underway
India’s one-off Women’s Test against Australia in Perth has kicked off. After the first day’s play of Alyssa Healy’s last international match, Australia is ahead in the game. Apart from Jemimah Rodrigues, no Indian batter showed the resolve required. Australia trails by 102 runs with 7 wickets in hand.
