New Zealand storms into the 2026 T20 World Cup final. The Pakistan coach quits after the Super 8 exit, and the PCB is set to name a new coach. Should India consider dropping Abhishek Sharma? Are England’s spinners better than India’s? And New Zealand Cricket made a request to the BCCI.

New Zealand into T20 World Cup final
Finn Allen’s unbeaten hundred has carried New Zealand into the T20 World Cup final. The opener smashed the fastest century in the tournament’s history, leaving South Africa shell-shocked. Kiwis chased the 170-run target in just 12.5 overs. But the Proteas had already lost the match long before, after some underwhelming batting in Kolkata.

NZC’s request to BCCI
NZC has urged the BCCI to renegotiate the schedule for India’s upcoming tour in October and November. Initially, three 50-over matches were to be played. However, NZC wants to add 2 more games since it could be the last time Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli come to the shores of New Zealand.

Pakistan selector angered by Babar Azam selection
After Pakistan’s exit from the T20 World Cup, selector Aleem Dar has submitted his resignation. Expressing displeasure regarding the selection of Babar Azam and Shadab Khan, whom the head coach Mike Hesson wanted, and the inclusion of Usman Khan over Mohammad Rizwan, Dar resigned. The PCB is yet to accept his resignation.

Should India drop Abhishek Sharma?
Ravi Shastri thinks Team India should back Abhishek Sharma. The former Indian head coach thinks that unless the management feels Abhishek is not in the right mental space, they should back him. Shastri added that the opener has historically done well against England, which could work in his favour.

England spinners better?
Before the India vs England semifinal, Michael Vaughan claimed that England’s spinners – Liam Dawson, Adil Rashid, and Will Jacks – are better than India’s spinners – Varun Chakaravarthy, Kuldeep Yadav, and Axar Patel. The former England captain added that Harry Brook is better at fielding and running between the wickets as well.

Pakistan’s new Test coach
The PCB is all set to name former captain Sarfaraz Ahmed as Pakistan’s new Test coach. Since Azhar Mahmood left in December 2025, Pakistan has been without a red-ball head. Sarfaraz has previously worked as a mentor and is expected to commence his stint against Bangladesh away from home in May.
