Yashasvi Jaiswal injury update

Yashasvi Jaiswal is likely to miss the opening matches of the 2025-26 Vijay Hazare Trophy after being hospitalised with food poisoning. The Mumbai opener complained of severe stomach pain following his 15 run outing against Rajasthan in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and was admitted to a hospital in Pimpri Chinchwad. Initially diagnosed with acute gastroenteritis, further scans confirmed food poisoning, which has caused him to lose over two kilograms in two days. Doctors have advised rest and medication for at least a week. With Mumbai’s group games starting on December 24, Jaiswal’s availability remains uncertain, especially with an India-New Zealand ODI series lined up from January 11. Read more here.

Ishan Kishan’s heroics

Ishan Kishan delivered a massive statement by blasting a breathtaking 101 off 49 balls to guide Jharkhand to their maiden Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy title with a commanding 69 run win over Haryana. His innings, packed with ten sixes, powered Jharkhand to a towering 262 for 3, built around a decisive 177 run stand with Kumar Kushagra, who struck 81. Anukul Roy then starred with the ball, striking twice early and finishing off Haryana’s chase, while also adding a brisk 40. Haryana were bowled out for 193 despite Yashvardhan Dalal’s 53. Controversy at the Ashes

Snicko became the main character at Adelaide Oval on day two of the third Ashes Test, and not in a good way. Jamie Smith was at the centre of two baffling calls that left everyone shaking their heads. First, Pat Cummins bounced him out and the ball clearly brushed Smith’s glove before going to slip. A missing Snicko frame showed no spike and he was bizarrely given not out, prompting Mitchell Starc to tear into the technology on the stump mic. Two overs later, Smith edged thin air, yet this time Snicko showed a spike and he was given out, even though there was daylight between bat and ball. Consistency was nowhere to be found. With fog and pollution regularly affecting visibility, the BCCI may consider shifting fixtures to the south or west during this period. Sarfaraz Khan thanks CSK

Sarfaraz Khan finally caught a break at the IPL 2026 auction after being picked up by Chennai Super Kings for Rs 75 lakh, ending a two-year wait on the sidelines. The Mumbai batter went unsold in the first round of the mini auction, only for CSK to come calling late and offer him a fresh start. An emotional Sarfaraz thanked the franchise on Instagram, calling it a new life and promising to help them win the title. Despite strong domestic numbers, he had found no takers in recent auctions. Sarfaraz has IPL experience with RCB and PBKS and last played in the league in 2023, featuring in 50 matches overall. Read more here.
