Seasons, teams, and captains change, but results remain the same for Delhi Capitals (DC) Women. For 4 consecutive Women’s Premier League (IPL) seasons, DC have reached the final. Each time, someone else has left with a trophy.
RCB lift WPL trophy again
It was the Mumbai Indians (MI) Women in 2023 and 2025. In 2024, it was Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) Women who hurt them. The same team caused them misery in 2026. Despite setting a 204-run target, the highest ever in a WPL final, DC were nowhere close to victory in Vadodara.
Smriti Mandhana and Georgia Voll made light work of the mammoth chase. That too, after Grace Harris fell on the 7th ball of the second innings. A 165-run stand between them left DC clueless. Nothing worked.
Mandhana and Voll manipulated the field beautifully. They targeted unmanned areas. While Voll was the aggressor initially, once Mandhana started, there was no stopping her. She and Voll were going to take RCB to victory, but DC had a few tricks left.
They claimed 3 quick wickets, one each in the 17th, 18th, and 19th overs. All of a sudden, DC were back in the game. It went down to the wire. Somehow, they needed 10 off 6. New batters Nadine de Klerk and Radha Yadav were in the middle.
DC could’ve pulled off something spectacular, but Radha came clutch for RCB, hitting 2 boundaries in the last over to take them across the line and to their 2nd WPL trophy.
