The former CSK star opined that Australian Cameron Green should be able to deliver four overs per game in the IPL 2026

Former Indian cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin has opined that Rs 2 crore must be deducted from Cameron Green’s salary if he fails to bowl four overs in a game in IPL 2026. The Australian all-rounder was bought by the 2024 champions for a whooping Rs 25.20 crore in the IPL 2026 mini-auction, making him the most expensive player to be sold in that event. Green, who made his comeback to competitive cricket last year after being on the sidelines for months due to an injury, will be making his return to the IPL and start a new stint with KKR.

‘Deduct Rs 2 crore…’

In a video on his YouTube channel, Ashwin wondered if Cricket Australia will allow Green to bowl four overs in a game as part of his workload management. The former CSK star opined that the Australian should be able to deliver four overs per game in the IPL 2026 and asked KKR to deduct Rs 2 crore from his salary if he fails to do so.

IPL teams also should have an opportunity where if he bowls only two overs, then they should deduct 2 crores. Why not? If he is not able to deliver his four overs, then you should have the right to cut their money, right? When you came into the IPL auction, the expectation was that you will bowl all four overs, and also bat. If there is no restriction on bowling, then great, but if there is restriction the team should be allowed to cut from the contract money,” Ashwin said.

KKR will be heavily reliant on Green’s bowling in IPL 2026 as their bowling department looks pretty weak at the moment. Harshit Rana and Akash Deep have been ruled out already. Matheesha Pathirana is yet to recover from his injury and will join the team only by mid-April.
