BCCI under fire! Former Pakistan captain tells cricket boards to not send players to IPL

The BCCI only allows retired players to ply their trade in other cricket franchise leagues. Those who haven't followed the rule have been sanctioned by the board.

Resentment and anger toward the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) seem to be on the rise. Former players are taking jabs at the most powerful cricket board for various reasons. The main issue seems to be how the BCCI made a deal with the International Cricket Board (ICC) to have the India cricket team play all of their ICC Champions Trophy matches in Dubai.

ICC bias towards India in Champions Trophy controversy

This caused experts to claim that Team India has an unfair advantage. Unlike other teams, they don’t travel to travel and get to play on the same pitch throughout the tournament. While it’s an advantage, what they seem to forget is that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) agreed with BCCI’s proposition.

The optics aren’t great. Pakistan, the hosts, had to fly to Dubai for a match. But that’s part of the deal. Recently we also learnt that both Australia and South Africa have to travel to Dubai, as one of them would face Team India in the first semifinal of the ICC Champions Trophy. The team that will face India will stay, while the other will fly back to Lahore for the second semifinal.

Inzamam-ul-Haq goes hard against BCCI and IPL

Former Pakistan great Saqlain Mushtaq had openly claimed that BCCI must be taught a lesson in a few days for making the world revolve around them. Another Pakistani legend has spoken out now. Inzamam-ul-Haq has veered away from the ICC Champions Trophy controversy and stated that other boards shouldn’t send their players to the Indian Premier League (IPL) because the BCCI doesn’t send Indian cricketers to their cricket leagues.

“Keep aside the Champions Trophy. Top players participate in the IPL, but Indian players don’t participate in other leagues. Other boards should stop sending their players to IPL. If you (BCCI) don’t release your players for leagues, then other boards should take a stance,” Inzamam said in an appearance on a Pakistani TV channel.
