Bangladesh vs Pakistan T20I series faces scrutiny even before it starts; fans disappointed

Pakistan travels to Bangladesh for a short three-match T20I series against Bangladesh in Dhaka.

Just days ahead of the upcoming three-match T20I series between Bangladesh and Pakistan, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) finds itself under fire from frustrated fans. What should have been a smooth ticketing rollout left many disappointed even before the series began. All three T20Is will be played in Dhaka from July 20 to 24.

Ticket sales frustrate fans

The BCB had announced that tickets for the series would go on sale starting July 15. However, fans hoping to secure their seats early were met with confusion and blank screens. The official e-ticketing website—gobcbticket.com.bd—remained unresponsive for most of the day.

Worsening the situation, the BCB had not clearly communicated the exact time ticket sales would begin. Without clarification, many assumed they would be able to book tickets from early morning, only to be left waiting without any official updates.

It wasn’t until late in the evening that BCB Director Mahbub Anam confirmed ticket sales would officially commence at 10:00 pm. By then, social media had already erupted with complaints, and the lack of timely communication had further dented fan confidence.

As reported by The Daily Star, 70 percent of tickets are to be sold online via the e-ticket platform and app, while the remaining 30 percent will be available at booths near the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on match days. Ticket prices for the Mirpur-hosted series range from Tk 300 (INR 215) to Tk 3,500 (INR 2500), covering various seating tiers. Digital and printed tickets will be accepted at entry gates, with each user allowed to buy a maximum of four tickets per match.

Pakistan arrived in Dhaka on July 16, fresh off a 3-0 T20I series win over Bangladesh earlier this year. Meanwhile, Bangladesh confirmed their squad yesterday, having just wrapped up a series win over Sri Lanka for the first time ever.
