Ashutosh Sharma emerged as a break out star for Punjab Kings in IPL 2024. After being released by PBKS ahead of IPL 2025 auction, the middle-order batter is probably looking for a new franchise ahead of the fresh season. In an interview with Republic World, Ashutosh dropped a hint about how he would want to join CSK in the future. The reason of course is MS Dhoni.
Will Ashutosh Sharma join CSK in IPL 2025?
Speaking to Republic World in an interview, Ashutosh Sharma claimed that he follows MS Dhoni in terms of approach, since both the stars are middle-order batters. PBKS have retained just two players – Shashank Singh and Prabhsimran Singh. Ashutosh will now have to find a new side, unless PBKS decide to take the RTM route to get him back to the team.
“I follow Mahi bhai (MS Dhoni). We both bat in the middle order and I am a big admirer of his finishing ability,” Ashutosh Sharma said.

A regular in the XI, Sharma impressed with his performances with the bat, amassing 189 runs with a highest score of 61. His strike rate is something to watch out for, hovering over 160 which provided the perfect setting for the PBKS batters to go about their job.
CSK are desperately on the look out for a middle-order batter, having retained just Shivam Dube before IPL 2025 auction. Ashutosh Sharma will very well fit in CSK’s XI.
