Harshit Rana was a member of India's team for the tour of England, but only for the first Test. He didn't play either.

The Delhi Premier League (DPL) 2025 dealt a blow when Rishabh Pant got ruled out of the entire tournament after a freakish injury he suffered during the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy. He was going to be the biggest name in the league. But the world doesn’t end and DPL T20 has more stars from Delhi cricket to pounce on. Harshit Rana, now a regular in all of the formats for India, is now probably the biggest name the league has to offer.

Harshit Rana commits to DPL 2025

Harshit Rana didn’t play the inaugural season last year. He was part of the North Delhi Strikers, who still went on to retain him for this season. Soon becoming the captain of the pack, Harshit Rana has now dropped a key update on his availability at the Delhi Premier League 2025. The bustling pacer, who has had some history with injuries, has now confirmed that he will play the entire DPLT20 2025.

After a tough defeat, courtesy of Yash Dhull’s superb century, North Delhi skipper Rana spoke exclusively to InsideSport. “Yes, I will play the entire DPL 2025,” said Rana. This is a fascinating development since the BCCI has always maintained a cautious approach with their fast bowlers. Rana, being in the scheme of things across all formats, has now put forward his desire to lead North Delhi in all the games, that includes ten league stage matches before knockouts.

“I just want to enjoy my leadership. I don’t want to take pressure of any sort because I know I will have to win my side games through my bowling,” he added.

Rana’s debut as captain didn’t go as planned. His team, who batted first, scored a decent 174, with opener Sarthak Ranjan hammering a well-made 82. Arnav Bugga, 17, also hit his maiden half-century but then the North Delhi Strikers were put at a halt by Yash Dhull. Dhull batted extraordinarily to take Central Delhi Kings over the target, while Rana struggled with the ball. He failed to take any wickets and was short in his lengths as well.

Injury scare for Rana?

Incidentally, when CDK needed just 8 runs and the match was merely a formality, Rana opted to bring himself back to complete his quota of four overs. However, just when he marked his run up, Rana stopped. He quickly brought another pacer in and went to the dugout. Later, the 23-year-old confirmed that it was nothing to worry about. “Nothing to worry about. I just felt some cramps so and the match was over. I didn’t want to push it. That’s why I went for a cautious approach.”

Fascinatingly, Rana remained tight-lipped when quizzed about his snub from the Indian Test team. For those unaware, Rana, after playing a game for India A against England Lions, remained in England and was added in the team for the first Test in Leeds. While he didn’t get to play the game, the selectors offloaded him consequently. However, when injuries ran wild in the Indian camp, the BCCI didn’t look towards Rana and instead chose Anshul Kamboj, who had an ordinary debut.
