India A has been knocked out of the 2025 Asia Cup Rising Star. Owing to a shambolic batting display in the Super Over in the first semifinal, Bangladesh A have beaten the Men in Blue and advanced to the final.

After Bangladesh A choked in the final over, Jitesh Sharma and Ashutosh Sharma got out for ducks in the Super Over, leaving a 1-run target for the Tigers to win. Jitesh attempted to reverse-lap a yorker on the middle stump and got bowled, while Ashutosh just mistimed one to extra cover. Despite Suyash Sharma getting a wicket, it was never enough for India A to win.

Bangladesh wins despite an epic choke

At the end of the 15th over in the chase, India A required 45 runs from 30 balls. An easily chaseable 9 runs per over with 6 wickets in hand. But Nehal Wadhera couldn’t get going. In his last 12 balls, the left-handed batter scored just 11 runs. It was painful to watch him bat. With 16 off 6 needed, the match looked over.

Ashutosh gave India A some hope with a maximum over long on. It was down to 8 off 3. And that’s when Bangladesh A choked big time. Firstly, Jishan Alam dropped Ashutosh. As if missing a chance wasn’t enough, the ball rolled on towards the boundary for a four.

Rakibul Hasan bowled Ashutosh on the very next ball, and with four needed on the last ball, Bangladesh A choked once again. Harsh Dubey couldn’t time the ball well while going for a slog, and Wadhera jogged to the other end. Bangladesh A had won, at least that’s what they thought. But it turned out the fielder wasn’t paying any attention.

He threw the ball far from the stumps, and Dubey ran back for a double. Keeper Akbar Ali collected the ball and, in a brainfade moment, threw it at the stumps. He missed, and not only did India A finish the double but also ran another one to send the semifinal into the Super Over.
