Abhishek Sharma absolutely massacred the ball in Mumbai last night. The opener outscored England on his own, and that too by quite some distance. He scored 38 more runs than the entire opposition (135 to 97). Hitting of the highest order was on display at the Wankhede Stadium. Abhishek broke quite a few records, including that of current Indian ODI captain Rohit Sharma and his Punjab teammate Shubman Gill.

The southpaw is now the highest individual scorer for Team India in T20Is, breaking Gill’s record. His 13 sixes also meant that Rohit Sharma’s 11 maximums against Sri Lanka aren’t the highest either. England’s captain Jos Buttler described his batting as some of the cleanest “ball striking he’s ever seen.”
Abhishek Sharma’s father missed his son’s hundred
Abhishek Sharma’s father’s chest has swollen with pride. A first-class cricketer himself, Rajkumar Sharma, unfortunately, couldn’t see his son live but couldn’t express his delight. The opener followed his idol Yuvraj Singh’s path by becoming the second-fastest half-centurion for Team India (17 balls to Yuvraj’s 12) and fell just two balls short of Rohit Sharma‘s fastest T20I hundred record of 35 balls.
“My daughter and wife were there (in Mumbai) to watch Abhishek batting live. I saw it on TV. It was a really proud moment for us. I can’t express my delight; thanks to everyone who supported him,” Rajkumar Sharma told IANS.
