In his short T20I career, 17 matches, Abhishek Sharma has scored two hundreds and has a mind-boggling strike rate of 193.84.

Abhishek Sharma has displaced his Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) teammate Travis Head to become the new No. 1 T20I batter in the ICC rankings. The left-handed batter hasn’t played a match since February 2, but Head has one-upped him there, since he hasn’t played a T20I since September last year.

Abhishek has become the third Indian batter to claim the No. 1 spot after Virat Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav. The former Indian captain was the world’s best T20I batter for years and held the top spot for most of the 2014-17 period. As for the current Indian T20I captain, he was the No. 1 T20I batter before Head.

There are two other Indians in ICC’s top 10. Tilak Varma holds the third spot, just 25 points behind Abhishek. Suryakumar is placed 6th. Yashasvi Jaiswal, who hasn’t played a T20I match since July 2024, has dropped down to 11th. The next best after him is Ruturaj Gaikwad, at 25th.

Josh Inglis has moved up six spots after scoring two fifties against the West Indies and now holds the 9th spot. Tim David’s unbeaten hundred has seen him jump 12 places, and he’s now at 18th. However, no one comes close to Cameron Green. The tall all-rounder moved up 64 spots after scoring three fifties and now stands at 24th place.
