LSG lost their way at the backend of the IPL 2025 season, losing 5 of their last 6 matches and finishing 7th.

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) changed their captain in the hopes of better returns in the last Indian Premier League (IPL) season. They broke the bank on Rishabh Pant and picked up several other rising stars, but it didn’t go as planned. Luckily, LSG has invested heavily in youngsters who can help them in IPL 2026.

5 youngsters LSG should retain for IPL 2026

To begin with, LSG boasts one of the brightest prospects in Mayank Yadav. Undoubtedly, he was the fastest pacer in India about two years ago. He’s since suffered several injuries and has been sidelined for most of the last 24 months. But persisting with him seems like the best option.

Abdul Samad should be the second pick. The batter from Jammu & Kashmir was one of the best finishers last year and has started to provide results after years of showing promise. While these two have something to show for it, the remaining three will be picked on talent.

BatterAgeTypePrice (INR)
Mayank Yadav23Right Arm Fast bowler11.00 crore
Abdul Samad24Middle-order Batter4.20 crore
Will O’Rourke24Right Arm Fast bowler3.00 crore
Arshin Kulkarni20All-rounder30.00 lakh
Akash Singh23Left Arm Fast bowler30.00 lakh

Will O’Rourke came as a replacement for Mayank and had an immediate impact. Although he leaked runs, he took 6 wickets in 3 matches. Akash Singh would be the other pick. He was useful as a swing bowler in the power play. With not many left-arm pacers available, having him is an advantage, especially with the impact rule.

Arshin Kulkarni should also be one of those who are retained. The all-rounder has played just 2 matches and hasn’t yet bowled. But his batting has utility. Arshin can be used as a lower-order hitter but possesses the ability to play up the order since he has been opening the batting for Maharashtra in the 2025-26 Ranji Trophy.
