The 19th edition of the prestigious cash-rich league, the Indian Premier League (IPL) is set to return from March 28. As the tournament gets closer, all franchises have started to assemble while setting their eyes on the coveted silverware. But ahead of the upcoming season, there have also been discussions around a few players, who have been under scrutiny for their disappointing performances.
Among them are a few players of the IPL 2022 champion side, the Gujarat Titans (GT). Experienced stars like Jos Buttler, Shubman Gill, Rashid Khan and a few others have faced scrutiny for their inconsistent form in recent T20 cricket, thus raising concerns about team’s balance and match-winning ability. Here in this article, we have listed three players who are having a dismal run in T20 cricket and the franchise will be looking at them to get their rhythm ahead of IPL 2026.
3 GT players in poor form ahead of IPL 2026
Kagiso Rabada
Known for his pace, aggressive wicket-taking ability, and effectiveness in the powerplay and death overs, Kagiso Rabada remains one of South Africa’s most important fast bowlers in the shortest format, but his 2025-26 season was marred with several hiccups. Plying his trade for GT in IPL 2025, he could only pick two wickets in 4 matches, and could only get a limited number of wickets while representing his national side, thus raising doubts on his consistency.
Furthermore, in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 in India and Sri Lanka, Rabada struggled to find regular wickets and finished with only 5 to his name at an economy of 8.14 in seven matches.
Rashid Khan
Former Afghanistan captain Rashid Khan, however, remains one of the most influential bowlers in T20s, but in 2025-26 season, he faced some fluctuations in his form. Known for his wicket-taking ability, variations and an excellent economy rate, Rashid Khan is going through a difficult phase. While he had a below-par performance in IPL 2025, finishing with only 9 wickets in 15 matches for GT, in the recently concluded T20 World Cup 2026 too he could only pick six wickets.
Jos Buttler
The England wicketkeeper-batter, who is often known for his batting blitz at the top or the order, had a mixed season in 2025-26. While he continued to maintain his spot, after a brilliant performance in IPL 2025, where he scored over 500 runs in 14 matches, he could only put up some 289 runs in 7 matches in T20Is in 2026. But his performance saw a dip as he was not lethal with the bat at the T20 World Cup 2026 and could finish with only some 87 odd runs from 8 games.
It is an area of concern that three of GT’s surest starting players feature in this list. Having said that, all three of Rabada, Rashid and Buttler are too good to remain out of form for long.
