Delhi Capitals’ (DC) retention list for the upcoming WPL 2026 auction gives them a tidy but superb starting point. They have retained Jemimah Rodrigues, Shafali Verma, Annabel Sutherland and Marizanne Kapp, each at INR 2.2 crore, and Niki Prasad at INR 50 lakh. That leaves them with a purse of just INR 5.70 crore and no Right-to-Match (RTM) slots. Only Mumbai Indians (MI) have a similar purse, making it difficult for DC to find more superstar names. With resources tight, every rupee must count and securing smart bowlers will be key if DC want to turn their finals appearances into a trophy.
Given DC’s strong batting core, their focus must shift to bowling reinforcements. With limited funds, they should pick players who bring value, upside, and are perhaps under the radar. Here are three bowlers who fit that brief perfectly and should be on DC’s radar for WPL 2026:
3 bowlers DC should target at WPL auction 2026
Kranti Gaud (Base Price – Rs 50 lac)
Kranti Gaud is riding high on her recent World Cup success with India, and her prospects look bright! Delhi’s fondness for fast bowlers could work in her favour, as she’s a talented gun pacer with a lot of heart. Sure, she might give away some runs, but this 22-year-old has the raw talent to make a real impact. We saw glimpses of her talent at the World Cup, where she snagged 9 wickets, including a match-winning spell against Pakistan. With her base price set at Rs 50 lakh, DC might need to fight with some franchises to have Gaud.
Saika Ishaque (Base Price – Rs 30 lac)
Saika Ishaque is a left-arm orthodox spinner who quietly made her mark in the WPL. She has a strong record with Mumbai Indians and is now available at a base price of around INR 30 lakh. For DC, who currently don’t have a spinner in their ranks, her inclusion would bolster spin options and give the team balance. With 25 wickets, Ishaque has more WPL wickets than the likes of Ellyse Perry (14), Shabnim Ismail (20) and Renuka Singh Thakur (13).
Titas Sadhu (Base Price – Rs 30 lac)
Titas Sadhu, another budget-based player (INR 30 lakh), offers fresh pace and talent. Although DC didn’t play her much in the last two seasons, she represents a raw bowlers’ pick who could flourish in DC’s setup. With their purse constraints, selecting a young pacer like Sadhu would give them long-term upside. In 12 T20 internationals for India women, Sadhu has taken 14 wickets at an economy of 7.13.
