No Wimbledon farewell for Andy Murray! Star ruled out after operation on spine cyst
Andy Murray is unlikely to take part in the Wimbledon following an operation on a spine cyst that will see him out of action for six weeks

Former world number 1 Andy Murray is likely to be ruled out of the Wimbledon after undergoing a back operation. The three-time Grand Slam champion underwent a surgery on a spine cyst, forcing him to sit out of the upcoming tourney. Just a week earlier, Murray had retired injured after five games into his second round match at the Queen’s club in London.

Murray had plans to bring the curtains down on his glorious career this summer. However, an operation to his back has put his retirement timeline on a fast lane. According to The Telegraph, the expected recovery period for Murray is about 6 weeks.

While Murray is yet to officially confirm this development, it is highly unlikely for the star to be fit in just 8 days for the Wimbledon. With the Wimbledon out of the Brit’s sight, the Olympic could perhaps be Andy Murray’s last dance.

When is Murray retiring?

When asked about what he meant when he said that he’ll not play for more than few months, the world No. 67 had said:

“Yeah, I mean, I’m likely not going to play past this summer. I get asked about it after every single match that I play, every single tournament that I play. I’m bored of the question, to be honest. Yeah, I’m not going to talk more about that between now and whenever the time comes for me to stop. But yeah, I don’t plan on playing much past this summer.”
