Blizzard has announced the official name of the new mobile game: Overwatch Rush. This new game is set in the Overwatch universe and is not a port of the current PC or console game. Blizzard Entertainment is developing Overwatch Rush from scratch as a mobile game for Android and iOS devices.
Blizzard is Developing a Mobile Version of Overwatch: Overwatch Rush
Overwatch Rush is a completely new formula for the series. Overwatch Rush has a top-down perspective, unlike the traditional first-person shooter gameplay. The early gameplay footage shows 4v4 matches with control-style objectives, quick combat, and maps based on classic Overwatch maps such as Busan. The graphics style also seems a bit more stylized and cartoon-like, which should help with visibility on smaller mobile screens and could also support the low-end device.
Blizzard has confirmed that there is a dedicated team already working on Overwatch Rush. This is in addition to Team 4’s efforts on Overwatch 2. This means that the original game will not be impacted in any way while the franchise grows into the mobile gaming market.
According to the company, Overwatch Rush is going to be a hero-based shooter designed for quick play sessions on-the-go. The gameplay is optimized for quick matches, making it easier for mobile gamers to join and leave matches. Hero abilities have been rebalanced for optimal use with touchscreen controls, and there will be customization options to help players adjust their playstyle for solo and team play.

Regarding monetization, Overwatch Rush will be a free-to-play game with the possibility of in-app purchases. Blizzard has also clarified that player skill will continue to be the determining factor in matches. The company has also clarified that monetization strategies could change based on feedback from the regional testing phases.
At the moment, there is no release date. Blizzard will start regional testing before a global release date is announced.
