After over two years of hiatus from MMA, McGregor looks likely to return in early 2024, if not this year. That said, the Irishman also appears to have begun his training and sparring.

In a chat with Sporting Post, Irish welterweight contender Moran said, “Conor McGregor is sparring and training again. We WILL see him back in the Octagon.”

Conor McGregor is in talks to face his TUF 31’s opponent coach Michael Chandler inside the UFC cage. However, that fight is not officially booked and McGregor seems to be looking at the BMF title in place of Chandler right now.

Post UFC 291, where Justin Gaethje knocked out Dustin Poirier to claim the BMF belt, ‘Notorious’ McGregor expressed optimism of beating Gaethje in a potential fight.

Conor McGregor’s social media post clarified his intentions of facing Justin Gaethje where ‘Notorious’ even claimed that he would knockout ‘The Highlight’ easily. Initially, Justin Gaethje accused Conor McGregor of steroid cheating and denied a contest against him.

However, Conor McGregor seemed adamant, and that urged Gaethje to verbally accept the fight.

Justin Gaethje asked ‘Big Boy’ McGregor to sign the contract papers. In response, McGregor tweeted, “signed.”

It remains to be seen whether these two fighters actually materialize their social media banter into an in-cage affair or the talks fade away. McGregor has been away from the sport for a long time. Upon returning, he is looking straight at the top level fighters.

That said, he hasn’t won a fight since January 2020 and shall need an immediate win on returning to the UFC.

When did Conor McGregor Last Fight ?

Following a KO win over Donald Cerrone at UFC 246, Conor McGregor had his next fight at UFC 257. I.e more than a year later.

McGregor rematched Dustin Poirier, whom he had knocked out at the featherweight division and entered the cage as the favourite.

Nevertheless, Poirier shook everyone and became the first and only fighter to knock Conor McGregor out in MMA. As the score stood 1-1 for each me, the trilogy fight happened at UFC 264.

McGregor and Poirier were unveiling an interesting fight when the former snapped his ankle and couldn’t continue anymore.

The fight was called off due to a doctor stoppage and Prier scored another win over his Irish rival. Since UFC 264, MMA fans have missed the sight of a Conor McGregor event.
