Manchester United squad numbers 2022-23: Christian Eriksen and Lisandro Martinez squad numbers – Manchester United have revealed that new defender Lisandro Martínez will wear the number 6 shirt, while Christian Eriksen will don the number 14. Martīnez officially completed his move to Old Trafford on Wednesday for a reported fee worth around €67m while Eriksen joined on a free transfer after his short-term contract at Brentford expired. The No.21 jersey still remains vacant at Old Trafford with optimistic United fans hoping that the jersey is kept for Frenkie de Jong, who has been strongly linked with a move to the Red Devils. Manchester United squad numbers 2022-23: Lisandro Martinez to inherit No.6 jersey from Paul Pogba
The Argentina international, who completed his move from Ajax on Wednesday, will sport the no.6 on the back of his shirt this season.
And United fans could get a first glimpse of Martinez in action with his fresh jersey this weekend, with United taking on Atletico Madrid on Saturday and Rayo Vallecano on Sunday
Prior to becoming a Red, Martinez wore the no.21 shirt during his three years at Ajax. When joining the Amsterdam club in the summer of 2019, the no.6 – whether it was his preference or not – was actually occupied by his now-United team-mate Donny van de Beek, before former Everton midfielder Davy Klaassen took it upon Donny’s move to Manchester.

Martinez has previously had the no.6 while at Defensa y Justicia, along with the no.24. At first club Newell’s Old Boys, he wore 14. The 24-year-old is set to become the eighth permanent holder of the jersey at United since squad numbers were introduced in 1993/94.

The Danish international was officially unveiled as a Red earlier this week, after joining as a free agent on a three-year deal. Ahead of those matches, where we hope the 30-year-old can be seen in action for United for the first time, we can confirm that Eriksen will wear the no.14 shirt during the 2022/23 season.
It will be the first time Christian has sported that particular number during his club career – he was no.8 for the majority of his time at Ajax and wore no.23 at Tottenham Hotspur.

Eriksen was given the no.24 for his two-year stint with Inter Milan and took the no.21 during his half-season spell at Brentford earlier this year.
